Description:

Hanover Township provides services to individuals, families, couples, and seniors. General Assistance provides a small cash grant to eligible persons. The Food Pantry provides food to residents once every 15 days, and bread once a week on Wednesday or Friday. See website. The Emergency Assistance Program can provide financial assistance to eligible persons in cases of eviction and utility cut off notices. The Holiday Sponsor a Family program enables donors to provide gifts for specific families. Contact office for geographic boundaries. See website for additional services. Services are available in Spanish.

Hours:

Office: 8:30 am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday; Food Pantry: 1:00 pm-3:00 pm Monday 11:00 am-3:00 pm Tuesday-Friday, 12:30 pm-3:30 pm summer hours on Saturday. Monday 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Intake Process:

Call for an appointment. For Food pantry, come in during hours. A photo ID and a gas or electric bill are required to verify residency at intake.

Eligibility:

Must be a resident of Hanover Township or the portion of Elgin located in Cook County. For General Assistance grant, the client cannot be eligible for any other state or federal assistance with the exception of medical assistance benefits.
